Gee whiz... I'm getting rusty at updating Gabby's blog. FORGIVE ME! A lot has been going on around the ol' household.
Biggest things? Hmm...they all seem big in one way or another. It's best I just start... let me see. We updated our bedroom... the master bed room has a nice new wood floor. I'm not saying that it's perfect but I will say it's GORGEOUS. If I do say so myself (and I do). ha,ha. Of course Gabby was right in the middle of it. She helped Sally and I in everyway she could. She was especially good at picking the order of the planks and color matching and which ones would go when. It's kind of art really... trying to color match and all that. me? I was spreading the glue down and pushing the planks together. It's not "hard" exactly; just a tad on the try your patience side.
Once the wood was down, Gabby did a couple of cartwheels across the wood. I have a great shot here somewhere. i'll have to post it once I get it off the camera. Speaking of the digital camera, we bought another Cannon digital elf. I looked at a bunch of different models but you can't beat it on size and pictures. Size and portability were very important to me. I have found that I take more pictures and more likely to have the camera with me if it's small and drops in my pocket.
After putting the floor down, we painted the room and put in shoe moulding. I had the opportunity to rent an air nailer. Oh yeah! Aaargh, aargh, arrgh! There is something definitely cool about pressing the buttong and hearding the "chhhkpuk" of a nail being driven into the wood. No more smashing of fingers...just put it up to the board, squeeze the trigger, and blamo...the board is nailed. The nailer scared the Cat ("Cat") and the Dog ("Misty-meaner"). They do not care much for power tools. Go figure.
Gabby has been skating the past few weeks - except for when Dorothy went to Vermont. OH MY GOSH - ALMOST FORGOT! The HITS team captured Gold in the Novice division of ice theater. It was AWESOME! Congratulations to Sarah Bloom - Gabby's pal form the rink. And of course, Dorothy and Shannon who lead the girls as coaches.
So, Gabby has been skating and working on her jumps and building her muscles. She is also sporting a new pair of Graf's. Nice ones. No messing around when it comes to skates and equipment.
Joel is doing VERY WELL! I'm so proud of him. He pulled in the high scores in his latest SAT testing. Woohoo! I think it was among the highest at Lamar. You go boy! Dad is proud of you (as always). He's gonna be a smart kiddo...like his dear ol' dad. ha,ha...
Mom and Dad Nieto are doing well. I dropped off a stash of Danish Ginger Snaps. VERY tasty and dad went after them pretty quickly. I heard from mom yesterday that he has just about polished them off. Talk about a cookie monster!
Well, that's about it from me. I will try to update you guys more often. It's just so much happening during the summer time. I didn't EVEN get into the detail of the WONDERFUL 4th of July picnic with the Ong's and Virginia from Sally's office. We had brats, chicken on a stick, beef on a stick, egg rolls, fruit... TONS of food. But, boy it was hot, but what fun! Richard whined the whole time (kinda). You could tell he was having fun...but you know...he's gotta complain. ha,ha. Nicholas has gotten so tall. Little rascal is growing.
