Update on the Spring Show

Thing change so rapidly sometimes. The Spring Show, scheduled for Mother's Day weekend, is back on! Woohoo!

Last week, it was looking very dire. The rink and the club have had some issues to resolve in dividing up revenue. The club uses this event as a fund raiser to pay the skaters "stipends" based on the number of hours they volunteer etc. The rink, which appears to me to be unfair as they wanted a whopping 50% of the gate. Yowza! There was all kinds of drama and the show was either going to move or it was going to be cancelled.

HOWEVER, it looks like those issues (for the time being) have been resolved and the show is back on!!! Woohoo - I have a lot of work to do, Gabby has a lot of work to do, all the parents have to pull this together double-quick time. Gabby has a solo and we've been looking at music pieces. Me? I have props to build, lights to order, etc.

Other good things going on? CLUB ICE is on for tonight. YES! I can't wait. This is my time to slip into my "other" personna and become "Mixmaster J" or something. Ha,ha. I plug in my laptop to the sound system and spin music for the kids. Oh yeah, good stuff too... I spin some "Nelly", "Jennifer", "Bond", um... even some country music. The kids love it and the dads - well, they come into the DJ booth and hang out. It's great. We also toss in some games and trivia.

I'll try to upload some pictures here when I get a chance.

Ciao!

Catching up!

Hi Everyone!

Catching up from past postings. My main computer crashed - both drives just went splat. Ugh. Good thing most of this stuff is stored out on the web.

Let's see...catching up...

Went went skiing in Santa Fe, New Mexico over the holidays between Christmas and New Years. That was "okay". Not as much fun as other places we have been in years past. This is the second year that Joel's missed our vacation. As he gets older he gets more responsiblities and I have to understand that. He's been making up for it though. We get to spend a lot of time together on the weekends.

Speaking of spending time together, Joel, Gabby, Ashlee and I went on a trip to the museum. Ashlee, is my niece and one of Gabby's favorite cousins. Anyway, we all piled in to the Lexus and cruised to the museum. We went to go see Body Works and stood in this line for like an HOUR! This was, of course, after navigating through all the backed up traffic because of everyone going to Hermann Park. Did I mention it was a nice day and rodeo traffic and construction? I should have take the train like Joel suggested.

This weekend, Gabby and I spent some time together going back and forth shuttling Ice skating judges for the competition. It was great - we had breakfast at the airport and just visited and talked. I think I enjoy that the most - just talking and people watching. We rode the little train down int he basement...not quite a subway but it's nice. We met some nice people from Salt Lake City...yes, they were Mormon's and they gave me a pamphlet. They were really sweet and put Gabby and I in a good mood to just walk holding hands around the airport. Sometimes that's all we need.

Gabby's skating continues to improve. She's working on her doubles. I think she's landing her double-flip; at least that's what they look like to me. I'm not the expert on these things but they look great.

Anyway, that's about it... let's see... work. Work is keeping me busy. Not too much travelling, but when I do travel it's always last minute. Fun, fun. :)

Take care!

Joe.
