A new Competive Year

The word the kids use around the rink to describe really good skating, or being in the zone, or overpowering - is BEAST. If you are a good skater, you are a BEAST! Today, in the short program, our dear Gabby was The Beast. No, not just Beast, THE Beast. Gabby skated a very good and smooth program. I believe that she really stood out from the pack with her first performance. She actually pumped the air when she finished! I've only seen her do that once before in her career. She was the beast today. Sure, it was 3rd place. It was a good 3rd place out of 9 other skaters in Intermediate.

Tomorrow, is another day. The same group of girls, the same sheet of ice and a different set of music. The long program. Gabby says it's not her best and she is nervous. I recall hearing that earlier today as well. Whatever happens I know that she will have skated her best. This is the first competition of the season and so we have a long way to go and lots of room for improvement. It is, however, a good start and puts her name out. A new Beast is loose.
